Shirati KMT Maternity Center

Construction has begun on the proposed expansion to the Maternity Center at Shirati KMT Hospital. In early December 2024, Msaada visited Shirati Hospital to discuss their needs for an expansion to their maternity center. Shirati averages over 300 births per month so the need was great.

Msaada assisted by providing a concept design for the maternity expansion which includes 5 delivery bays, a new C-Section Suite and a new NICU wing. The current maternity center will be converted to pre and postnatal care. Construction of the NICU wing (Phase 1) is currently under construction as a Design Build project using local contractors. The project is funded by Reach Shirati in partnership with Friends of Shirati.

Msaada Architects have a long history of serving Shirati KMT (Kanisa Mennonite Tanzania) Hospital. Having completed the nursing school and a variety of renovations in the 1980’s, it was wonderful to return to Shirati for the completion of a Master Plan for this growing institution in 2022. It is exciting to see results from Master Planning and progress being made on new facilities.
