St. Timothy Lutheran Church

Bangui, Central African Republic

Rock buildings with a crosswalk surrounded by lush trees and plant life

St. Timothy Lutheran Church, within the Evangelical Lutheran Church of the Central African Republic (ELCCAR), is truly a structure of hope in the midst of tragedy. Tim Olson, worked for Msaada as a project architect in the CAR. Before his work on the church was completed, Tim was murdered by a group of bandits. The community honored Tim’s service and life by naming the church after him. Tim’s parents, Gordon and Betty Olson, have since dedicated their lives to continuing Tim’s service through the founding of Lutheran Partners in Global Mission (LPGM). Despite the turmoil and violence that plaques the CAR, LPGM continues to support efforts at St. Timothy and in the surrounding area. LPGM also opened a new dispensary clinic in Gallo, CAR designed by Msaada.
